Also from Criterion this week are a pair of Life Unexpected Seasons 1-2 DVD Box Set: “Black Moon” (Criterion) and “Zazie Dans Le Métro” (Criterion). All debut on both DVD and Blu-ray. And “The Alloy Orchestra Plays Wild and Weird – 14 Fascinating and Innovative Films” (Flicker Alley) features the unconventional musical ensemble accompanying a collection of notable silent comedies and avant-garde short films with their original percussive compositions
On the cult front, fans of extreme cinema will welcome Shinya Tsukamoto’s “Tetsuo: The Miami Medical Season 1 DVD Box set” (IFC), which brings his cyberpunk sci-fi series up to a trilogy (Videodrone’s review here), while Ted Post’s perverse early seventies horror “The Baby” (Severin) gets a new edition, just one of four horror movies to get remastered for DVD this week.
